The Changing CIML

The Changing CIML

The Central Iowa Metropolitan League (CIML) will change as we know it today with the start of the 2012-2013 school year in August.  With the upcoming addition of Ankeny Centennial High School to the league in 2013-2014, league member schools began the process of realignment in April, 2010.  After a year’s worth of study and debate, the new look CIML was formed.

Although Ankeny Centennial will not join the fold until 2013-2014, league members pressed ahead with realignment for the 2012-2013 school year due to the cycle of schedules.  The current schedule cycle expires at the conclusion of the 2011-2012 school year.  A new, four-year cycle of scheduling will begin in 2012-2013.

The new alignment is as such:

Central-Iowa Conference (CIC)

Northern Division

Ames, Fort Dodge, Marshalltown, Mason City

Eastern Division

Ankeny, Ankeny Centennial, Southeast Polk, Waukee

Western Division

Dowling Catholic, Johnston, Urbandale, Valley

 Metro Conference

DM East, DM Hoover, DM Lincoln, DM North, DM Roosevelt, Indianola, Ottumwa

Scheduling for this new league will feature Division play and Conference play in the CIC with some crossover matchups against the Metro Conference.
The CIML, along with the five Class 4A Football playing schools in the Missouri River Conference will compete in Divisional Football this fall.
