Urbandale took a 12-7 lead into halftime at Fort Dodge on Friday evening and for a while, looked as if they would not return to the field.
After nearly a 60 minute lightning delay, the J-Hawks and Dodgers took to the field. Urbandale quickly jumped out to a 25-7 lead and used timely defense to win, 25-14.
Trailing 7-6 in the second quarter, the J-Hawks used a 79-yard scoring drive capped off by a Ben Hurley touchdown run to go into the halftime period ahead. Hurley orchestrated two drives early in the third period, one a 25 yard run by Max Dillenburg, the other a 9 yard touchdown scamper by Hurley himself.
The J-Hawks defense intercepted Fort Dodge Quarterback Sam Edwards on four different occasions throughout the evening and held the Dodgers to (-2) yards on the ground.
Andrew Baker opened the scoring in the first half with a 39 yard touchdown reception from Hurley.
Urbandale hosts Dowling Catholic on Friday, September 9, 2011, in a CIML Central Conference matchup.
