On Saturday, October 22, 2011, Urbandale High School had 29 students audition for the Iowa Instrumental All-State Festival. Statewide over 1000 instrumental music students audition and approximately 17% of the candidates are selected to participate in the All-State Music Festival in Ames, Iowa on November 17 – 19, 2011. It is the highest individual honor a student can receive from the Iowa High School Music Association.
Urbandale students who audition for the Iowa Instrumental All-State undertake a rigorous process of weekly mock auditions, they study with teachers both in and out of school, and they devote hours upon hours to individual practice time. The following 29 Urbandale students are to be commended for their dedicated efforts and outstanding representation of themselves and their community.
