Urbandale High School is proud to announce that Nick Rice has been named the new Head Coach of the Urbandale Jaywalkers program, pending approval at the May 18, 2026, school board meeting. 

A proud J-Hawk & Jaywalker alum ('15), Rice brings passion, energy, and a strong connection to the Urbandale community as he steps into the role. His familiarity with the culture and pride of Urbandale will help continue the tradition and excellence of the Jaywalkers program.

"We are excited to welcome Nick back to Urbandale," said Activities Director Jared Power. "His enthusiasm for dance, leadership, and wide range of experience make him a great fit to lead the Jaywalkers moving forward."

As an alumni, Rice understands firsthand the impact the Jaywalkers program has on students and the school community. His goal is to build upon the program's foundation while creating a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes.

The Jaywalkers have long been an important part of the Urbandale spirit, performing and representing the J-Hawks at athletic events, competitions, and community activities throughout the year. Under Rice's leadership, the future of the program looks bright as he begins this next chapter back where it all started.
