Urbandale High School Names Mitch Mosser Head Boys Basketball Coach

Urbandale High School is proud to announce that Mitch Mosser has been named the new Head Coach of the Urbandale High School boys basketball program, pending approval at the May 18, 2026, school board meeting.

Coach Mosser brings a wealth of basketball knowledge, leadership experience, and a strong passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court. Throughout his coaching career, Mosser has built a reputation for fostering competitive, disciplined, and team-oriented programs while emphasizing relationships, accountability, and character development.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Mosser to Urbandale," said Activities Director Jared Power. "His experience, energy, and commitment to student-athlete development made him stand out throughout the process. We are excited for the future of J-Hawk Boys Basketball under his leadership."

Mosser and his family recently relocated to the Des Moines metro from Omaha, continuing a family tradition deeply rooted in athletics and coaching. He is married to his wife, Samantha, and together they have three boys: Neal, Major, and Maddux. His passion for competition, mentorship, and family aligns with the vision and culture of Urbandale Athletics.

Mosser is eager to begin working with the Urbandale boys basketball student-athletes and looks forward to building relationships with players, families, and the whole Urbandale community.
