The Urbandale High School Boys Track & Field team wrapped up a strong showing at the 2026 Iowa State Track & Field Championships held May 21–23 at Drake Stadium, finishing 20th overall in Class 4A with 12 team points.
Starting it off for the J-Hawks was Junior sprinter Dominic Cabildo, who earned a podium finish in the Boys 100 Meter Dash. Cabildo clocked a 10.99 in the prelims to qualify 7th overall before posting a personal-best time of 10.92 in the finals to finish 5th in the state.
Distance standout Sophomore Jack Tryon delivered a pair of personal-best performances on the Blue Oval. Tryon ran a 4:19.28 in the 1600 Meter Run to place 17th overall before returning in the 3200 Meter Run and posting another PR of 9:30.74.
In the field events, Junior Daxon Kiesau earned All-State honors in the Discus, finishing as the Class 4A Runner-Up with a throw of 178-08. Kiesau also competed in the Shot Put, recording a throw of 51-10.00 to place 13th overall. Teammate, Junior Landon Rinnan also represented the J-Hawks in the Shot Put, finishing 14th with a mark of 51-02.75.
Additional state qualifiers for Urbandale included Senior Ashton Hensley, who ran a 1:59.07 in the 800 Meter Run to finish 23rd overall, and Sophomore Gino Sciorrotta, who posted a time of 14.76 in the 110 Meter Hurdles prelims to place 12th.
The J-Hawks also qualified a pair of relay teams for the state meet. The Boys 4x100 Meter Relay team ran a 42.94 in the prelims to finish 17th overall, while the Boys 800 Sprint Medley Relay team posted a time of 1:36.44 to place 23rd.
