Entering it’s 48th year, Iowa hosts the largest state high school dance competition in the nation with 250+ high school teams and a total of more than 5,000 dancers performing more than 600 routines throughout the three-day competition.

The state competition, held in Des Moines from December 4 - 6, includes performances in both Wells Fargo Arena and the Hy-Vee Hall. Panels of dance industry professionals and leaders from across the nation judge our teams competing in a variety of 15 categories; the most popular being Pom. Champions of our state team competition are featured in our 90-minute televised championship show aired on Iowa PBS each year.

Additionally, over 140 athletes will compete in 14 categories of color guard or dance. The solo competitors are judged by a panel of professional judges brought in from around the nation who provide industry leading judging and relevant and highly credible critiques to further advance the level of talent in Iowa. 

Spectator admission is $18 per person and can be purchased HERE or at the gate. Live stream access of the competition is available for purchase and can be accessed at www.isdtalive.com. Dance team participants and fans can also purchase state apparel, merchandise, and digital recordings on the website. The awards ceremonies will be livestreamed free of charge.
