There was postseason softball in Gary Page Field at Lions Park as the #11 Urbandale J-Hawks (20-18, 4-12) hosted the Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson Yellow Jackets (22-18). It was a hot and humid July day in Urbandale as the high reached 94 degrees and a realfeel of 102 degrees.
Tatum Johnson hit a rocket for her 10th home run to score 3 in the first. Then it was key hit after key hit to score 3 in the second. It was more of the same in the third as they plated 3 more runs. Then, in the bottom of the fifth, Ella Schott singled in Madi Reed to win by run rule. Aubrey Schuman tossed a gem, giving up just one hit. Bella Oberbroeckling hit her 3rd home run of the season that put the J-Hawks ahead 3-2 in the 5th. The final score was 10-0!
With the win, the J-Hawks advance to the Class 5A, Region 5 final. They would face the winner of #5 Johnston or Des Moines East. Depending on the outcome, the J-Hawks will either play at Johnson or host Des Moines East. Regardless, tickets MUST be purchased through Varsity Bound at this LINK.
