Urbandale High School is proud to announce that Rick Isaacson has been named the new Head Coach of the Urbandale High School girls soccer program, pending approval at the January 12, 2026, school board meeting.
Coach Isaacson brings a strong background in soccer and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field. He currently serves as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Simpson College, where he has built a competitive collegiate program while emphasizing leadership, discipline, and player development. Prior to coaching at Simpson, Isaacson led the Ankeny High School boys soccer team to a state championship.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Isaacson is an Urbandale community member and graduate (Class of '99), giving him a strong connection to the district and a deep understanding of the values and traditions of Urbandale High School. As a student at UHS, he was also part of the 1998 boys state soccer championship team.
"When you combine Rick's experience at the collegiate level, familiarity with the CIML, and commitment to our community, it makes him a great fit for our girls soccer program," said Director of Athletics & Activities Jared Power. "We are excited about the direction and leadership he will bring to the program."
Isaacson is eager to begin working with the Urbandale girls soccer student-athletes and looks forward to building relationships with players, families, and the Urbandale soccer community as preparations begin for the upcoming season. Girls soccer players and parents/guardians can expect communication about a team meeting soon after the school board approves the hire.
Urbandale High School welcomes Coach Rick Isaacson and looks forward to the continued growth and success of the girls soccer program under his leadership.
